Indian Ringnecks – Truly Unusual Coloring

Indian Ringnecks Parrots

Most parrots inhabit the New World Territories; both in the North America, Central America and South America. There is one “highly fluent” breed that lives in Africa but what they possess in vocal talent in terms of mimicking human speech did not equate their value in mere appearance.Indian Ringnecks But there is one fairly impressive breed that represents Asia, and these are Indian Ringnecks Parrots or also known among many bird-lovers as parakeets.

Indian Ringnecks Characteristics

Indian Ringnecks Parrots are not only attractive, but they are also intelligent and highly talented. Their total height is bracketed within the medium range, around 14 to 16 inches. Indian Ringnecks Parrots have hooked beaks painted in various tones of red; with the pointed tip colored black like a quill dipped in a bottle of ink. These parrots also have elongated tails, which makes up almost more than half of their height. The color of their feathers are mostly green, a natural camouflage of India’s rainforest regions. However, mutations have bred unique colors such as yellow, white, blue and sometimes a mixture of these.

Their namesakes are easily distinguished by the black color resembling a noose on their neckline. Such was “ringneck” coined in them. Males have darker lines than females, with the latter born with lines that are pale and very difficult to spot. Juvenile Indian Ringnecks Parrots lack the rings on their neckline and it will only manifest at the advent of their maturity. It takes three years for these birds to be capable of breeding.

The Indian Ringnecks take pride on their obedience and their versatility with their vocal skills. These parrots are not as obnoxious and ill-humored as their cousins from Africa and America. However, it does not mean that the Indian Ringnecks do not need attention from time to time. They simply possess remarkably stable personalities and they can cope up with minimal attention. They are the tamest parrot of their kind. However, at some point the expression “small but terrible” greatly apply to these smart squawkers. The Indian Ringnecks Parrot has a tendency to be very loud and vocal with their screeching, and their sound seemingly does not fit their size. Think of a Chihuahua dog with a reverberating howl of a Timber Wolf. Another thing that makes them a challenging pet to own is that they have the tendency to be very jealous, even with an owner’s family member. Being quite reserved pets, they are capable of establishing a strong bond with one person and ignore the others. They make far better faithful companions than spouses suffering from midlife crises.

The Indian Ringnecks Parrots can become highly disciplined parrots through extensive obedience training methods. One might be inclined to take back the stereotype “bird brain” when these highly trained Indian birds smartly and gracefully perform tricks commanded by their masters. They are even capable of complex tricks such as untying knots and stringing beads. Though they may not be the best in speech, they can mimic different sounds such as whistling and laughing. Avian scientists classify them as the most difficult parrot to nurture due to their complexity. But there is no such thing as a difficult pet to raise as far as a dedicated owner is concerned.
